Graham Williams

Graham Williams has an extensive background in AI and Machine Learning research and development, with a current focus on Data Privacy and Sovereignty. 


He is Chief Scientist, Software Innovation Institute (https://sii.anu.edu), Professor, School of Computing, and Cluster Lead for Data Science at the Australian National University (https://comp.anu.edu.au/people/graham-williams/). 


Prior to the ANU Graham was Director of Data Science, Cloud and AI with Microsoft, leading international teams supporting organisations setting up AI capabilities. Prior roles have included Lead Data Scientist with the Australian Federal Government and the Data Analytics Centre of Excellence, Principal Computer Scientist for Data Mining with CSIRO, and a consultant across industry and government in areas including health, taxation, finance, insurance, retail, and security. 


Graham is a data science practitioner and educator, developing a suite of Open Source Software tools (https://togaware.com) over his 40 years in the industry, including the popular software package Rattle for data mining and MLHub for machine learning with over a million downloads. He has authored 2 books on Data Science and edited over 5 books in AI and Machine Learning, with over 100 academic papers.
